The Sashing Our Warriors Campaign stemmed from a grassroots movement to call attention to the impact of violence on our otherwise invisible Métis women, girls and those who identify with them. Through the power of Métis ceremony, sashing and gifting, we will heal our communities emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
49 inches long ( with fringe) and 5 inches wide
Louis Riel Wool Sash (Med) 240cm long 15cm wide 30cm fringes at both ends.
This sash is hand-made on a loom using alpaca wool. Its design is a replica of the Coventry style sash which Louis Riel wore circa 1860. His original sash is currently on display at the Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum.
Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) and the Fox Family have partnered to create a limited-edition commemorative Terry Fox sash. The sash is considered an integral and highly symbolic aspect of Métis history and identity. This special sash celebrates Terry’s maternal Métis heritage and weaves together red and blue, two of Terry’s favourite colours. Each sash is individually stitched with care from a Métis-owned small business.
All net proceeds of the sash will go directly to The Terry Fox Foundation in support of cancer research.
