Design: The five-petal flower represents all Métis children who attended residential schools. The infinity symbol is small, as if it’s hiding and represents holding onto the culture while trying not to forget who you are. The Métis flowers are blooming and encircling the flower and infinity symbol as a representation of the enduring strength of Métis culture and identity.

Small Dark Times Sash (168cm x 8cm) The black border replacing the red represents the dark period after 1870 when the Métis were suppressed and dispossessed of their land.
RED: Represents the blood of the Métis that was shed through the years while fighting for their rights
BLUE: Represents the depth of the Métis spirit
WHITE: Represents the Métis connection to the Earth and Creator
YELLOW: Represents Prosperity
BLACK: Represents the dark times of suppression and dispossession of Métis Land followed by their resilience and resurgence of their Nation today
